Washi tape diy

I love these wood discs!  and I love wash tape!  So it made perfect sense to me to put them together.

Wood discs

                                  + washi tape

                                   = necklace

                               How simple is that?!

New stuff

Trying to start thinking about Christmas gifts and whether or not I will do some kind of market this year, so I have been playing around with some new jewelry.  I have been wanting to do some more copper pieces so I started these yesterday.

They also go great with any of the beaded necklaces...
I have lots of these painted wood pieces as well

various house projects

Just a few of the house projects I have been working on...

I was in desperate need for some new pillows

Just like the idea of numbering the steps

Experiments

Here are my two finished works from the workshop I took.  I really kind of like them both.  I have never considered myself a painter, but I am finding that the more I work with it , the more I like it.  So for now, I am mildly obsessed!  I have been painting daily now for a couple of weeks.  So more paintings to come...

Sketchbook practice

Sketchbook practice for online workshop.  I'm not so great at organizing my ideas in a sketchbook.  I usually just end up doodling things that I don't end up liking.  Here are a few that I think were mildly successful.

Stu,Stu,Studio

Been working on organizing my garage studio for Pages & Paint, an online workshop I started this week.  It seriously needed some work! I am excited about the workshop and glad to have an excuse to spend some time organizing.

Project complete!

Yes, the stair project is complete! I ended up painting the stairs in a charcoal gray paint. I really like the way it turned out.

Taking my own advice-
I am always telling my kids (and other peoples kids) that drawing just takes practice. Yet, I am quick to say that I cannot draw. Not good right! So, I am practicing. I love birds, so I thought I would start there...

Obviously, I have a long way to go, but practice what you preach right?!

Part 2

The current state of my stairs:

Now, the problem is what to do next?? They really look better in the picture than they do in person. Thinking of staining or dry brushing the treads dark gray. Or painting a runner down the center. Decisions, decisions!

What I've been working on Part 1

I recently made a messenger bag out of a man's sport coat. Well, really, two sport coats. One for the body, one for the strap. I really love how it turned out. I have carried it every day since. Thinking of some new ideas and different types of bags I can make next!

the power of bleach

I know, terrible picture! What you probably can't tell from the picture is that is an infinity scarf.
Take one blue tshirt, cut off the bottom draw lines on it with a bleach pen... and this is what you get. Can't really decide if I like it or not. The lines turned out sort of a pink color. I was hoping for white. Oh well, once again something doesn't actually turn out like I planned.

Anyway, I'm still trying to craft something everyday. To be honest, I have missed a couple of days, but most days I make something.

rainy days and Mondays...

Wow! It has been raining all day, and yet I can't seem to get anything accomplished. I'm pretty sure watching a documentary on U2 doesn't count!
I did however, manage to finish this bracelet. Braided tshirt fabric on leather, much cuter in person. As usual, my picture is really bad
Did this necklace yesterday. Yellow dyed beads on leather with rusty metal piece found on the ground with buttons glued on top

Call me crazy!!

Yes, call me crazy, but I have set up this personal challenge for myself and I really need your help!
I have secretly been trying(emphasis on trying) to create something everyday. Might be something little, might only be part of something.
I am not, I repeat, not calling this a new year's resolution! Although, it did start at roughly that time.
Anyway, I am going to do my best to post these at least a couple of times a week. I have a little head start so some days I may post 2 or 3 things.
I would love some encouraging comments to keep me going!

As usual, since it is a new year, I am trying to start out on the right foot. So, I have been trying to get organized. In trying to do this, I discovered that I needed a better system for our mail.
Here is what I came up with...
I used some cardboard magazine files from Ikea, cut off the top added some placemats that I found on the $1. aisle at Michaels and there you have it. I hung them with some twine and added a cute knob with a bird also from the $1. aisle at Michaels.

So I will know what is what I downloaded free printable labels from brightandblithe.wordpress.com.
Ahhh. Organization! (we'll see how long it lasts)
