Since I am currently obsessed with knitting, I think everything would be cute knitted. So, I tried a headband out of this cute multicolored yarn.

It turned out pretty cute, and it was easy. Two of my requirements for any craft! I bought some stretchy multicolored sock yarn that I think I will try next. That is after I finish the flower I am knitting to add to this headband. These would make great gifts! hint, hint.

Check out this gorgeous yarn! I have many Christmas projects forming in my mind!

Knitting?

I recently became obsessed with these wristlets that I have been seeing everywhere. My knitting skills being somewhat, let's say, beginner at best. I decided to try a pair. Well, after starting over approximately six times this is what I ended up with...

Now, I realize these aren't perfect, but they will do the trick this winter! I just know I will wear the oatmeal pair all the time.

Check out this adorable pair from Simply Vera Wang at Kohl's. I will definitely being putting trim on my next pair
Next post...headbands!!!

In need of a gift

I am in need of a gift to give a friend for her birthday tomorrow. I like to give handmade gifts to my friends(whether they like it or not), but I like for the gifts to suit them. I end up giving a lot of jewelry because I usually have something that is just right for the recipient. However, in this case, I don't. So, I happened to remember a little bag I made a few years ago that I thought would work. A few minor alterations later and here is what I came up with...
I really hope she likes it! Good thing I am sure she doesn't read this blog.

Any body who knows me well, knows I am obsessed with any kind of wrap bracelet or leather.
Here are my versions...

Also , can be worn as a necklace..
Pretty fun! And very versatile because they are made from cut up tshirts, go figure.

I don't know about you, but I think my pictures are getting better?.
On to the next project. I have some wristlets in the works...

hello again!

Now that I am at home a lot due to my two new puppies, I have been inspired to start up again!
And it will be Christmas before we know it. So, I have been making a lot of jewelry because I was planning on doing many Christmas shows this year. Unfortunately, that fell through and now i have a lot of new stuff so I might as well share.

I have always enjoyed finding new designs and making them for less. Using inexpensive materials and adding a little twist, you can have something super fun that can make an outfit.

Here are some of my latest:

I saw this at J.Crew, of course. The second one is my version.

This one is from Sundance. I think it is about $400. My pendant, significantly less.
I'm sure I will be trying a version of these soon...

Day three

I am reposting Day three. For some reason, yesterday the pictures didn't come through.
We started with a lesson in pointillism and George Seurat. He painted entire pictures using dots.
So we did the same thing using pencil erasers. Some very pretty pictures came out of this!
This was paper day. We learned about collage and decoupage. Everyone created their own unique collage board.
What beautiful creations!

Day Four

Day four: Well, we are winding down our fun week. So, today we did something different-jewelry! I knew the girls(including me)would love it, and we did.
We started with magazine necklaces. We made beads from magazine pages and strung them together.
There is always a break for playtime!
Chocolate pretzels and fruit for snack today! More messy faces.
We finished the day with tshirt bracelets. Easy and fun!
Quote of the day: "A work of art which did not begin in emotion is not art" Paul Cezanne.
Tomorrow is our last day and our party! The girls are really looking forward to it, they all helped with the planning.
Don't forget your tshirt!!!

Day Two: We had a very full day today. We finished up our printing with stencils and the much anticipated potato printing! The girls have been very excited about this. And our tshirts turned out great!
For our snacks today, we made banana octopus ( or is it octopi?) We also had chocolate covered strawberries, which the girls loved. There were a lot of cute chocolate faces when we finished.
These are our tshirts, as you can tell each are very different. We were all proud of the job that we did!
The plate on the right is our potatoes that we used to print. I think this picture fits our quote of the day
"Blessed are they who see beautiful things in humble places where other people see nothing".
See you tomorrow!!

Day one of art camp. How exciting! We started the day by putting our names on our aprons and working on their mural that they are going to add to every day.
Today was printmaking day. We talked about different methods of printing including potato printing, stenciling, stamping, leaf printing and feather printing. We all toured the yard to select leaves to print with.

Everyone printed their own tote bag that they will use everyday to bring home their work. Please have them bring the bags back every morning.
